A quick getaway to a place not so obvious: Wuppertal!
Wuppertal is a very small industrial town, with one very known attraction: the monorail. It is one of the very few cities in the world to have this kind of public transport. The monorail (we like the German word ‘Schewebahn’ much better ?) follows the river ‘Wupper’, at a certain point to cross the road and then just keeps following the road – you even fly over the highway! With about 13K long and 20 stations, it is a very pleasant way to get from point A to point B. some of the stations are still in (renovated) old style (the monorail dates back to the beginning of the 20th Century).
If you plan a visit to Wuppertal and you are staying at a hotel (we stayed at Postboutique Hotel) you get a dayticket for the Schewebahn for free!
