At the start of the big summer holiday, we went for a small but very fun and entertaining citytrip. These days there is a word for this kind of short-by trips: micro-tourism. Yes, we stayed in Belgium for this one!
Bruges received the Triennale Liquid City, with art installations spread over the city, and almost everything was outside, so if you’re never been to Bruges it is a perfect way to discover ‘Venice of the North’.
Some of the pieces that we liked a lot: The Bridge by JAROSŁAW KOZAKIEWICZ, The Floating Island (with swing balls!) by OBBA and the Selgascano Pavilion (warm inside the giant worm!) by SELGASCANO.
The Bruges Whale by STUDIOKCA is a beautiful, but at the same time very sad piece. Made out of plastic found on beaches …
We downloaded a map on the website and walked around at our own pace. Fun for kids as well (at least the kids of our friends were exhausted but seamed to had there share of fun, be sure to go to the tree house at the far end of the parcours). Perfect to go out by bike too!
