Interested in photography? Visiting Ghent during summer holidays? Ever wanted to see one of the most beautiful places of Ghent from the inside? If you say at least once ‘yes’ than this is a must-go for you!
Eyes wide open! is a new exhibition in the St-Peter’s abbey about Leica photography. It showcases some amazing cameras, first-edition posters, and of course a lot of (mostly black and white) pictures. Some of them are iconic and world famous, like the Che Guevara picture. Belgian photographers got a place as well.
We got the honor to get a tour by the curator, Mr. Koetzle, who guided us through the evolution of photography – Leica was the first to come with a 35mm camera – and world history through the eyes of the photographer. We were amazed to see so many brilliant pictures, often made in difficult conditions and without the technology of today. Truly inspiring!
